Act of discrimination

An act of discrimination against a racial or ethnic minority that you have personally witnessed?

There are alot of people out there in the world who discriminate on one another because of the color of their skin or where they are from. Sometimes people do this wthout thinking. They even do this just because the person looks different even tho they may not be. My first child, I had was my daughter Isabella who will be eight this september. Isabella was born Albino. She has white hair, very pale skin and purple eyes. Most people who are albino have one parent who is african american or both parents are. When Isabella was about six months old we lived in Maine because her father was is the United States Navy. Me and Isabella were at the store when an older woman who had to be in her 80's walked up to me and asked me how I could have a child with a "nigger". I was so mad at what was said to me, that I cused out the lady and walked out the store without my things i was buying. I have never been so affened in my life. Even to this day I have never had someone else come up to me and make a comment like that. People just think her father is black because of her being albino but he's also a white man.
That was the only time that i remember someone making a racial comment to me like that, and thats without people knowing the facts of my life. Now my daughter will tell people to stop looking at her and making comments to her. I always thought we would have issues with children looking and talking about her, when in reality its adults that do.

The Indian Killer

The Indian Killer was a good book to read. It was a easy book to get into. The only thing that i did not like about the book was that it jumpes from one thing to another. I didnt feel like the book flowed into the next chapters. I believe that the book wasnt just about a indian killing white people. It was because of all of the things that white men had done to indians that was the killer. Yes the book talked about an indian killing people but there was also white people killing others and no one really cared about that fact. People need to look at the whole picture and not judge someone just because of the color of their skin or because of what makes them who they are. The book was left wide open for another one. I would read it if there was a part two.

Fear and Loating

Im not sure how I really feel about the book. This is because I grew up with a family mamber that was addicted to drugs. I saw first hand how someone acks when they are high off many different drugs whether they were uppers or downer. I saw this person freaking out because they thought they saw things that were there, but really were not there and/or slept all day off of the downers that they were taking. I lovd in the story how he kept acking like he was someone different than he really was, like the officer and the doctor but being high the whole time was not something that i really cared for. Otherwise, it was a very insteresting read for our first book of the class.

The American Dream

There are many different meanings for the American Dream. It really depends on who the person may be. There could be people who think the American Dream is happiness or being able to do as you please but to me the American Dream is freedom.
Many people have came to the United States for their freedom. Freedom to live the life that they want. To be able to have an education and become anything that they will let themselves be. Freedom to have as many children as they please or not to have any. The American Dream for most is to live a long, healthy, joyful, free life from pain and suffering that their government may cause them. In the United State, we have these things and will contioun to have options as long as we follow the American Dream.
